Which backplane slot for RQDXE (M9058)?

Or does it matter where it goes?

According to the user manual, the RQDX3 needs to go in a slot where the bus grant daisy-chain is not broken.
In my backplane I think that will be slot 5, rows A/B. (CPU, memory, RL controller, and multiline serial card in the first four slots).

Can I put the breakout board next to the controller (rows C/D), or can it go anywhere that there's room for the ribbon cables?

And, if you know the answer, you probably know this too

Can I just use any floppy cable (34 pin IDE to card-edge) and connect directly from the RQDXE to a TEAC FD-55G-series 5.25" floppy drive? (And provide power to the drive too, of course).
