Me personally, I never had any interest in the 99's
Saw them in Sears, KMart, etc.. back then, but for some reason, never paid them any nevermind. Always gravitated to the C='s and Atari's

Every once in a while I ponder getting one, and the ExpBox.
What OS do they run, once ya get the ExpBox and disk drive?

Well, what OSes did you run on Atari's and C='s?

The TI, like many early machines, only had a BASIC interface. It had TI BASIC built-in.
There never was an add-on OS (not a real one). Funnelweb is a text-only menu-style interface that integrated several programs, including word processing, disk management, program loaders and menus of other programs.

There were some CLI programs, such as OS99 or FDOS. These usually required a super space or Gram Kracker or similar to run.
