I recently repaired a Xerox Star mouse and an Apple Lisa mouse. I enjoyed the experience even though it was a steep learning curve for me :).

I am now on the lookout for more mice (broken preferred) from the 1970s to the early 1980s.

I am also interested in stories, useful articles, and in general learning more about mice from this era. Kudos to the useful website www.oldmouse.com.

From my limited understanding here is a rough mouse timeline (1972 to 1983):

1972 Xerox Alto (three button prototype)
1974 Engelbart three-button ARC mouse (see photo @SRI https://americanhistory.si.edu/collections/search/object/nmah_1761511)
1975 Hawley X063X three-button mouse thin strip (Mouse House Inc https://www.oldmouse.com/mouse/hawley/)
…gap...
1981 Xerox Information System 8010 “Star” (commercial two button mouse; electro-mechanical ball then electro-optical)
1982 Logitech P4 (red ladybug shape licensed from ZTH Zurich)
1982 Mouse Systems M1 (optical mouse)
1983 Hawley X063X Mark II mouse (Mouse House Inc)
1983 Apple Lisa
1983 Microsoft Mouse ("green eyes")
1983: Apricot Mouse (cordless, wired http://actapricot.org/machines/apricot_this_is_my_pc.html)
