So, I snagged a 171. Only problem is neither of the floppy drives work, and it's not a simple cleanliness issue either. Thing is, the machine's DIP settings at intake don't align to the reference chart in the service manual at all in spite of the drive model being a match (Okidata GM3315 third heighters): My machine has a cable with the DS switch, so setting DS0 and DS1 as specified wouldn't work.
It's clear enough as to what I should do with them (both DS1 as usual), but what about HS being ON? HM was ON at intake, too. is that correct?
