IBM 8 inch floppy drive and ibm computers

We got one into the shop today large 8" IBM black external floppy drive with the cables.

No picture yet what do you think and is this type of drive collectible.

Also I have 6 Ibm systems including ibm monitors that I am going to be refurbishing and reselling 100mhz 486 dx types

Wait, so this is an 8" drive in an IBM-branded enclosure? I have enver heard of this before. Sounds like something that could be easily "rejiggered" to read and write 8" disks under DOS.
 
Ok it's black external and has an IBM logo on it. It's big and heavy There's a floppy in it. I'll check it out today and get a pic on here.
 
I know an instructor at Bridgemont university that actually has a disk for that lol..

I have three Altos 8000 series that use 8" disks, and I'm imaging those 8" disks right now (for bitsavers.org) in case others need them.
What's the LOL for?
