I recently read through this thread on: comp.sys.ibm.ps2.hardware

Skyrocket was the code name for an AT prototype that had 640kb on the motherboard.
Does anyone know if photos of this system exist?

Sounds to me an awful lot like the 5162 (PC XT/286). 640K on the planar, IIRC.

Sorry, I forgot to post the actual link to the conversation:

Apparently it was not based on the 5162 planar, but something closer to a type 1 motherboard.

Weird, I'll have to add that to the list of XT-286 conspiracy theories, which include:
-The system was built solely to use up spare XT parts
-It was designed to avoid having to re-write existing government contracts to supply XTs

Not to say that any of them aren't true.

I'm not sure about Skyrocket, but it sounds more like it was intended to be what became the AT model 239 and 339.

So nobody in here knows Tony Ingenoso?

Huh, I'll have to double-check the AT chassis I've got. It has a XT-286 sized motherboard, and BASIC in ROM, I always assumed it was just an XT-286 motherboard in an AT case.
