I searched and searched for an introduction area when I first joined, but I must be an idiot because I didn't find it till today.

I love old computers, but I don't collect the really, really old ones like some people here do. It might be something fun to dabble in, if I found any. Back in 2002 or so I had an IBM Xt, or something close to that which I found at the Salvation Army. The box, keyboard, monitor, some manuals, etc. It worked perfectly. I even bought some old floppy games and installed on it. Sadly, back then, I was not into old computers like I am now, and I didn't value them as much, and I got rid of it. It still pains me that I did.

I really enjoy the challenge of taking an old cast-off that someone else didn't want and that doesn't work and bringing it back to working order.

I welcome you to the forums!
(The intro forum is sort of hidden in there, isn't it.:))

I've got rid of a few what-was-I-thinking computers when I was young too, including my first computer I ever owned. It was a Gateway "mid-tower" system. But once they invent time travel, I'll get them all back.

It's also relly great to have the perserverence to kep going to get a computer working. The joy of when it boots up with (minimal) or no problems can't beat anything when you know how much work you put into it.

Have fun here.

Welcome, we are glad you are here. I think we are all guilty of not realizing the worth, most of us learn it the hard way! Have fun.
