CBM 8032 - What does the startup chirp actually mean?

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, create a separate thread detailing your problem. You will also be moderated for the first 10 posts - so we will have to take things slowly to start with until the moderators approve your posts.

Unlikely (but possible) that it is the /RESET signal. It is a simple check to perform.

More likely is a ROM socket issue or a faulty RAM. What colour are your IC sockets?

I would suggest downloading and burning a copy of my PETTESTER V4 into a 2532 EPROM and swapping it for the EDIT ROM in your machine. This will test out your machine.

But first, create a separate thread...

Dave

Whilst awaiting the new thread, I noticed that I have three ways of making the chirp chirp:

1) power on
2) PRINT CHR$(7)
3) my 4032 chirps when I am typing in a long line of code at the 34th character.

Colin.
