CGA (digital) to VGA/Component/HDMI

One thing someone here might be able to answer for me:

I don't have any original CGA or EGA hardware so I've tested the PC support of RGBtoHDMI using a Tseng labs ET3000AX which is a VGA card with EGA 9 pin connector as well. This can be persuaded to output accurate CGA and EGA timings as well as VGA over 9 pin TTL but one thing I'm not sure of is how does an original EGA card behave with the low resolution modes (the ones with CGA timings). Does it use all 6 bits of the TTL EGA connector for the palette or does it only use the 4 bits of RGBI?

BTW I still seem to be stuck in moderation hell as my posts are getting sent for moderation even though I've made more than 10 so check backwards in the thread as they are appearing hours or maybe even a day or more later.
