Hello
A question for the COMPAQ experts...
I have a working Compaq LTE286. But after a short time the image disappears and the hard drive only ticks.
The Conner CP-4041 therefore needs to be replaced.
But that disk is hard to find and probably (very) expensive. And after all those years probably not reliable either.
Is there an alternative to replace this hard drive? (I saw on YouTube for example that a CF card is not an alternative.)
Thanks!

The LTE 286 has a bunch of caps on it that leak - have they been replaced? In the power supply as well.

I dare not rule out that the power supply has problems.
The green light on the power supply is on, but often the other light also flickers.

No matter what the problem is in this case, any LTE 286 must be recapped at this point. The type of caps they use always fail and leak, and will cause damage eventually regardless if the current issue is caused by them or not, and I'm guessing the current issue likely is a cap problem.
Caps on both the motherboard and PSU need attention.
