Computer from scratch

I'm working on designs for a simple adder from transistors and a breadboard, to help learn how computers work on the lowest level. I want to include RAM, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to make my own RAM. Size is not too much of a limitation, since I'm only going to use 12 bits. Any suggestions?

ps. Did I choose the right place? I figured this'd be ok since it doesn't use ICs

Sorry, I got my definitions of minicomputer and mainframe all mixed up.

Watch out, it's 25MB, but it is full of information on creating transistor based logic.

After doing your research/development at atomic level, you might want to
