CPTEX80 - What the hell is this?

I'll hazard a guess: Teletext / videotex terminal, everything in ROM, not usable as a computer.
I'll be glad to be proven wrong.

The only thing that I can find about it is this page and its duplicates, as well as a mention of one being auctioned off some years ago.

It's called a "computer", but I suspect that it's very low end.

With a picture of the back and side mounted ports, determining what the box would do would be easier. I expect a computer to have more or different ports compared to a dedicated terminal. If the design was inspired by a better known system, any expansion slot or card edge should match which would give the purchaser a better chance of getting software and hardware to work.

No manuals for an unknown system not verified to work, not a good start.

Yeah usually anything with "tex" in the name is going to end up being one of those.

The design style did remind me of machines like the Challenger 4P etc though.

The article is completely unrelated to the CPTEX80, it's a story of a child who couldn't write, and it seems that this "computer" was the first one where she could... Probably it's a Videotex.
