Crowd fund me ? Gimix Ghost

$24,000 today is only $5,550 or so in 1979 dollars, and looking at all the boards you get it looks as if this system might actually be cheaper now than it was originally. So not a bad deal, right!?

Im going to settle for my $20 Coco2 since its got essentially the same specs. 6809, 64k ram. Serial, video, sound.

I mean, really, to be fair you're probably going to have to add a multi-pak interface and a few cartridges to that CoCo to really match a GIMIX system. I mean, the CoCo's serial port is *bit-banged*, not hardware. That's at least ten grand right there...

It was the worst of timea and it was the absurdest of times.

I would love to get a Ghost but that beast is missing parts and doesn't go for $22K (the price dropped) when full. I saw a working Ghost w/OS9 LII going for <$4k a few months ago. That wasn't the only absurdity on EBay but I can't keep track of all of them

I'm guessing I didn't get it. No replay back so far.

Well no hard feelings, I hope he gets the best price for the Gimix computers. :-)

Good work ! Please dump the roms, photograph the boards. Start a thread about the repair ?
Yes, definitely dump the ROMs, take pictures, the works. :)
The gentleman on EBay had it up and running so reforming the caps might not be necessary. But I'll get advice on that before I power it up. I need to figure out how this thing booted. It has a video card and probably had a serial keyboard. The good news that I purchased a TV925/950 keyboard which is serial (just not RS232).
I'm expecting the Ghost tomorrow. Can't wait. :)

I have the Gimix6809 cpu card if that helps for jumper settings. Really too many jumper settings.
The GMXBUG-09 monitor is out there - take a look at the assembly and the memory map

Finally I get a chance to work on the Ghost! I have it on a clean section of my desk. I'll get the Commodore monitor hooked up and see if we can get video out. I'll also hook up a serial cable to the first few serial cards. I'll need to test the serial keyboard I have (TV950 keyboard, 1200,8,N,1). I'm hoping to get a chance to dump the ROMs. :-) Worse comes to worse I'll burn SWTPC into a 2732 and put the ROMs on the ROM card (not shown).

Oh yeah, forgot to 'splain:

SS50 bus section
3 - 16K SRAM boards
1 - 6800 (1MHz) CPU card
1 - Single Density Floppy Card
1 - Gimix Video Card

SS30 bus section (in order, left to right)
Microware 6850 card
3- MP-S (6850 card)
A sound card
Microware 6850 card
Clock card
MP-LA card

No idea on it's purpose but it has a one serial for the keyboard, a clock, a sound and video card. So personal computer with a lot of IO? ;-)

So the first serial might be console (I haven't tried yet), 4th serial is modified for TTL serial.
