I had to yank like heck to get the tapes out so I could clean the heads.
And when I look in I see disintegrated drive pucks :( so I can't load any tapes.
Fun over for now.
I am all ears if there is a way to replace drive pucks.

Well... Even if the drives were 100%, the tapes are probably not... I wonder how that tape drive is connected internally. There are TU58 emulators, maybe you can connect such an emulator in the machine... I have a TU58 drive in the basement with 5 new tapes. But I didn't even try the drive because of the known problems....

Drive pucks are easy to fix - just scrape/dissolve/pull the old ones off and replace with a piece of hose with the right ID to be a tight slip fit.

I have a dual TU58 drive in my 11/44. It is a prop, just for show. The real TU58 interface connects to an emulator running on my PC.
In my experience TU58s were pretty unreliable back in the day when they were relatively new.

Once you get the puck replaced you will also probably have to take apart and repair the TU58 tapes themselves. There is a type of plastic band that can replace the broken band in the tape.

Or just sell me your tapes, I'm working on fixing a TU58 myself :)
