Helllo all,

I have a 486 for which I had set-up a larger than 512 Mb IDE hard-drive using EZ-Drive.

The CMOS battery has been exhausted and the sticky note on which the default parameters entered in the CMS got separated from the system. Of course, can't boot from the hard-drive anymore.

Is there a set of default HD parameters which would work, or a trick which would allow to get to the necessary parameters.

Thanks

Get a new battery and look up the drive model online (or use the TH99 database) to re enter the parameters. Once that is done the EZDRIVE software should take over on boot unless something happened to it.

try setting the drive to anything, like type 1.
All you really need to do is get the drive to boot the 1st few sectors off the disk, where ez-drive is sitting, then it will take over from there and be able to re-size the drive itself.
