Good to see the ol' Free Software for DOS website is still
going. In fact - I've think their've grown - they seem to have
mirror sites all around the place now (including Australia! ;-)

Their Website has changed a few times though I believe - at
one point I think they were on Geocities. Currently I found
them at: http://short.stop.home.att.net/freesoft/softlib1.htm

Went there looking for some Graphical programs which I maybe
able to use & it's suprising to see that people are handing
their -once- shareware programs to these sites (or they
provide Keys to get them going). Some of these include Art
programs written in DOS (which is good). I certainally hope
the Neopaint authors do this - it's such a great program, but
you know, I couldn't see anybody buying it in this era. But
still be great if they do for the hobbiests like myself who
still like to dabble with DOS.

Thanks for the link, CP/M User, it has been bookmarked for later trolling! I too am a big fan of MS-DOS (uh, I have several computers that currently run MS-DOS 6.2, and one running FreeDOS), and very much enjoy "dabbling" in DOS programs. As I recall, I learned the majority of my programming and programming languages under DOS.

I never really learned much about Win 3.1 until recently. I used DOS forever, till I switched over to Win 95, around 1998-or-so...

Terry, you skipped 3.1 and went from dos to 95? Wow! I just went to check out the underdogs website which was great for old dos games and they are gone! What a bummer. They had the most complete library of games you can imagine. If anybody knows what happened to them, let me know!

The games site I usually go to is Gamehippo they have a huge
list of games for various platforms. Mostly Windows games now,
but they have a very good Search engine - with allows you to
pull up many DOS games they still have there. The only grudge
I have is with the newer stuff - they call it DOS games, but
are actually games which run in a DOS Window (until Windows) -
I used to post messages (as "DOS games fan") warning anyone
like myself who wants to play it - better have Windows. I
simply didn't like it because a DOS game simply can't be
unless it's running totally in Native DOS.

But all the games at Gamehippo is Freeware - which is good.

When I can afford it, I will expand my website to have areas dedicated to dos. But cant afford that now, especially since I just started a new site for a museum I am working on.

One game I have is Ikari warriors. I played it everyday on my Tandy 1000HX back in the late 80's. I've since lost my disk and I have an image file with the extension .img but I don't know how to use it. Anybody have any idea how to load this image file?

You mean it's an image of the original Disk?

If that's the case then, as long as you have the means to
write back to the same media (e.g 5.25" disk) - then a program
which writes images back onto a disk will do the trick.

Do you know which program did you used to make the image file
in the first place? Cause that maybe relevant when
transferning it back.

Think one such program which does this is rawrite?
Yeah, just have a look at this site & see what you can make
out of it (maybe able to download it from there - not sure).
