Help needed with setup & useage of Willem EPROM Programmer V508 version PCB50B

You could have insufficient voltage/current when writing the EEPROM/EPROMs, or your programmer is just flaky.

I'd suggest trying a different programmer. I've had good luck with the GQ 4x4 with an external 9v power supply. They're a bit pricey with the EEPROM expansion board, but well worth it.

2 days ago I received a Willem programmer model SPI-25XX-PCB5.0T-2024.
1st, I didn't get software with it. I've been looking for it on the internet.
I've found this: http://keeelectronics.com/WillemPCB5.html. I downloaded this: "setup_pcb5e" It didn't install well.
I've also found another source "https://www.mcumall.com/support/DualPoweredWillemUserGuide.htm" And downloaded "WillemProg_epr097ja" which behaves exactly the same.
I got this message, but I'm the administrator and using its account.

Also it behaves strangely when I try to do things. I always get this message:

I get this message also if I want to quit using this program. So I have to use job/task-control, I hope the correct translation, to finish it.

But going further, it comes up with this:

When I try to do something, I get this message.

This is the programmer that I use. And I see many different versions of it.

I'm using a 14-year-old desktop with a parallel port which the software finds correctly and Windows 10 - 64bit. I'm using an external +12V psu.

My questions:
What am I doing wrong?
Where can I get the correct software?
Should I use a 32 bit version? Or perhaps 32 bit Dosbox?
I've noticed that the last parallel version of the software originates from 2005 and that's old.

Any comment is appreciated.

Shutting down the desktop I saw the programmer software is 32-bit. So I have to install it in 32-bit compatibility mode and see what happens. At least one step progress.

I have this Willem 50B.
I got it to work with my Win XP.
I got it to work with my Win 7 64b.

It can be very picky, but it works for me and I have used it to read/program a handful of chips.

Not sure if it will help you, but you may want to try what I did in the last post of the last thread above especially visiting this site.

Also, if you do get it to work, please share your results.

Tnx @syzygy for responding. I've read everything, but I'm not going that way. I lack the knowledge, energy and time to do that. Furthermore, I'm interested to get my 2x Sorcerer 2 up and running, but I don't think your way will be successful for me. So I got the permission to send the programmer back and get a refund.

Actually, it is too bad, as the value for money would be great. No other programmer gives this many possibilities. The downside is that the LPT port on a PC is disappearing with the progress of technology, and so is the ever-increasing new versions of windows. And also is the ending of Windows 10 at the end of this year. It would be a waste of time and effort getting this programmer running. All I need is to program several 2732s and perhaps 2764s. But who knows what comes up further. I also have a Gemini Galaxy 1 or 2 computer that might be fixed. These are extremely rare.

I didn't know that there were that many versions of the Willem programmer. I haven't seen my version yet. The software is from 2015 and from then on there came USB versions of the Willem programmer which are more useful on modern PCs for the time to come. That is the way I will be going.

If you're returning that programmer, I'd recommend what I recommended earlier, a GQ 4x v4 with the EPROM option board. It can burn cranky old EPROMs, though you may need the optional external 9v supply for some parts.

I got one of these because the XGecu T48 can't reliably burn EPROMs due to insufficient write current. Haven't had a problem with the GQ 4x v4 yet.
