Internal hard drive not detected on my Macintosh Classic II

Hi, I'm new here and also new to the world of vintage computers.

I recently bought a Macintosh Classic II for nearly nothing and I need your advice !
The original OS floppies weren't included so I booted it with an another OS. Everything looked fine until I realized that the internal hard drive wasn't showing up on the desktop ! I just can't find it anywhere :sleepy:
Does that mean that something is broken ? Or did I miss something ?

is it an apple drive?
have you initialized it?
is it terminated properly?

What exactly do you mean by "internal hard drive wasn't showing up on the desktop"?

Do you mean it boots from the hard drive, but you don't see a hard drive icon on the Mac desktop? (If that is the case, then it is a software problem)

He meant he booted it form a floppy disk and the hard drive didn't mount.
