Hello,

I have a single board computer - Cubix BC 4035 A4010 and I'm looking for information on it. I have found most of a manual at...

http://www.oldcomputers.it/parts/cubix/ers/docs/sitocubix/4035-c1.htm

My current big questions are
* how to hook up video? The video out is a 14 pin connector for a ribbon cable that pushes out video + keyboard/mouse signals. The manual says they use a combo connector that breaks out to vga and ps/2 cables. So, what's the pinout? Is there any way to tell with just a multimeter (I think not)? I have used KVMs in the past that combo'd the vga+keyboard. What are the odds there is an unofficial standard?
* how to power it up? Here the manual says to use Cubix's special backplane. Can I use any ISA backplane? I have a passive ISA+PCI backplane that I've used for other SBCs. I'd like some ideas before I just plug the thing in. Preferably some facts before I plug it in. I imagine it is going to work but I'm just trying build some knowledge before blind actions.

Thanks!

hey there, sorry for necroing the old thread --

i just came across this while searching for something related to these old cubix boards.

i have a fair amount of experience working with both the 4030 and the 4035 outside of a cubix ERS.

they will work in any old normal isa backplane that has +5 and -5. the 4030 doesnt like not having -5, the 4035 doesnt seem to care.

the 15 pin mux keyboard/monitor mux connector pinout should be:

1 RED
2 GROUND
3 GREEN
4 GROUND
5 BLUE
6 GROUND
7 HSYNC
8 GROUND
9 VSYNC
10 GROUND
11 KCLK
12 GROUND
13 KDATA
14 +5 (FUSED)

feel free to DM me if you want more info about these boards, they're pretty cool

Have you tried running one of these with an IDE2CF (or IDE2SD) adapter?

I'm trying to figure some way to boot it without a monitor. I was thinking about smashing a DOS boot + LAN driver autoboot on a CF/SD card. That way I'd be able to see it on the network and possibly telnet into it.
