All the drive I have for sale have been low level formatted with an interleave level of 3, followed by a DOS format, made bootable and have been tested to boot just fine. I then ran Spinrite on them (not the surface scan), copied the park utility to the root of the drive and parked them. I have also noted the drive specs (Cylinders, heads, sectors etc) on a sticker on each one.

Asking $20 per drive. Shipping will be $16 per FH drive or $16 per HH drive, up to to drives.

I have the following drives:

Miniscribe 6053 - 44Mb, FH no front plate.
Miniscribe 2012 - 10Mb, FH, has a black font plate that says IBM
Seagate ST-4038 - 32Mb, FH, no face plate
Seagate ST-251 - 42Mb, HH, black face plate.
Seagate ST-251 - 42Mb, HH, no face plate, include IBM AT style brackets
Seagate ST-251 - 42Mb, HH, no faceplate
Seagate ST-213 - 10Mb, HH, no face plate

Seagate ST-227R - 65Mb, HH, black faceplate. Was LLF as MFM w/ 17 sectors per track and works fine.
Seagate ST-225R - 20Mb, HH, black faceplate. Was LLF as MFM w/ 17 sectors per track and works fine.

I have a plethora of MFM cable sets for sale too. Single drive cables and multiple drive cables as well as the quite a few of the smaller cables. I will sell them in sets, either single drive 34pin cable and single 20pin cable or dual drive 34pin cable with two 20pin cables. Single sets are $5, dual sets are $10. I can slip the in with a drive if you order one, or else shipping will be $8 per as many sets as I can put in a small flat rate box (which I suspect would be quite a few).

Lastly I have quite a few MFM and/or RLL controller cards (like 20 or more IIRC). I will do my best to list these ASAP if there is interest in these cards.

I'd get the two Miniscribes if I lived in the US. But because I live in Canada, I don't think I could even afford one.

Wow. I don't currently have anything that's MFM, but this brings back memories. My first hard drive was a $400 used 5 megabyte MFM drive.

Interesting about these:
Seagate ST-227R - 65Mb, HH, black faceplate. Was LLF as MFM w/ 17 sectors per track and works fine.
Seagate ST-225R - 20Mb, HH, black faceplate. Was LLF as MFM w/ 17 sectors per track and works fine.

PM me.

Hi, there. I just acquired an MFM drive but have no controller for my XT clone. As you seem to have a lot of knowledge about this area, can you tell me if the drive pictured will be supported by any of the controllers you have? It will need to be an 8-bit card (with BIOS extensions, obviously). Thanks!

Would you consider shipping the 4038 to Australia? If so, how much total? :)

Bobby.

I'd rather not TBH, the cost would be immense (USPS estimates $80 from CA to Australia). But if you are really that interested PM and me and we can go from there.

Still have these:

Miniscribe 6053 - 44Mb, FH no front plate.
Miniscribe 2012 - 10Mb, FH, has a black font plate that says IBM
Seagate ST-4038 - 32Mb, FH, no face plate
Seagate ST-213 - 10Mb, HH, no face plate

And the collection of MFM/RLL cards - Pick one, make me an offer. No reasonable offer will be refused.

Still have you the Seagate ST21M/22M controller?

Man, I was about to kick myself really hard for missing this thread as I am looking for ST-251 drives.... Then I saw the OP date and realized how late I was to the party LOL

Hello
Do you still have any MFM controllers ISA ? 16 bit I think.
WD best ?

Hi
I sold my old 286 AT last year to a wonderful family - but I miss it. I still have my Microscience 44 Mbyte hard drive i paid $500 in 1990.
I would like to get the old drive working for nostalgia.
I have a pentium Win 98 with ISA slots that still works (has IDE drive).
In my 286 I had a WD with floppies.
I am hoping Lutiana answers me as I live not far from Dublin.
I can't send messages as I am so new.

Maybe there are some stores in San Jose (Weird Stuff) that I can try.

Thanks

Bob Boys

Weird stuff is gone unfortunately. Is that 44Mb drive an MFM or RLL drive? I don't know how feasible it would be to to get it running in a late AT/ealy ATX machine. But I can dig around to see if I have a controller lying around somewhere that I can part with. Though to promises on time, my schedule is very cramped these days.

Hello

Too bad about Weird Stuff.
Drive is MFM : Microscience H-1050. It says MFM on the label.
The computer has 16 bit ISA slots and is running Windows 98 maybe SE right now.
The motherboard does not have drive controller on board.
There is a 16 Bit ISA IDE controller with floppy controller and it works good.

I have high confidence this would work.
I expect a WD board with floppy controllers would work on this computer.
I ran the hard drive for about 1 week and it is in good shape. I low-level formatted it with the WD controller I sold with my 286 AT.
I have owned it since new.

If you have anything let me know.
No Panic.

Thanks
Bob Boys

I can part with a NIB WD1006V-MM1, which is 16bit MFM, but it doesn't have the floppy portion populated, like the MM2 version does. It looks like the I/O address can be changed, so I guess it's possible, maybe, that it could exist with another HDD controller. I think this is considered one of the more high performance MFM controllers that you can get. I've never tried them in a Pentium.

Let me know if you're interested.

Hello
I lost where I posted this and it took me a while to find it.

I think this board might work.
Do you still have it ?
How much do you want for it ?
Thanks

Bob

I have a working WD1003-WAH 16-bit controller.... Be willing to trade it off/ sell it so I can get an 8bit controller. And yes you can use IDE with MFM controllers in the same system, just make sure the IO addresses are different. Just keep in mind you can only boot off 1 unless you use XT-IDE. The second card will need to have its own bios and config, like a CSC / Adaptec / Promise etc if not using XT-IDE.
