Hi All,

Can you connect a trs 80 display monitor to a Ti99/A computer?

Thanks
Bobby

TRS-80 monitor as in the black and white monitor the TRS-80 Model 1 shipped with, with the 5 pin DIN plug?

Sort of/not really. You can't just plug it in. The Model 1 monitor is just a black and white composite video monitor, but it also needs 5v to power the internal optocoupler (it's a modified hot chassis TV set). The TI 99/4a DIN plug also carries power and composite video (as well as audio), but it doesn't have 5v available - only 12v. So, if you plug he TRS-80 monitor directly into the TI, you might damage it's optocoupler circuit, since I don't know if it can handle the 12v.

You could make a simple little adapter though, with a 7805 to knock the voltage down to 5v for the TRS-80 monitor.

But, still, the TRS-80 monitor is just a low quality black and white monitor. You'd probably be better off just building a simple cable to plug the TI into a color monitor or television set - that connector has composite video and line level audio in it.
