Is there an IBM branded mouse for this machine?
I'm looking online for a serial mouse for an XT, but I can't find an IBM serial mouse, just PS/2 ones or from other brands.
Which mouse would be a period correct one?

thanks

And there are a lot of multi-function ISA boards out there to save a slot over a dedicated board. My ATi Graphics Ultra Mach 8 ISA adapter had an external port for a bus mouse which is where I hook up my Microsoft serial mouse on COM1 (which I think is 200dpi mouse if I am not mistaken).

I do have serial mouses, also a serial port on the machine. I was wondering if there was an IBM specific mouse for this machine, I'm learning that there wasn't one. Thanks guys

Mice were far less necessary during the first half-decade after the introduction of the IBM PC. AFAIR, Microsoft tried to spur interest by offering a discount on their Bus Mouse with a copy of Windows. Since Windows really didn't take off until Win3.0 (1990), there wasn't a tremendous demand until then. Even though IBM released the PS/2 (with the corresponding PS/2 mouse port) in 1987, most users stuck with menu-driven (i.e. DOS-based) applications on that machine as well.
