Open Toaster - hardware?

There is something like Open Video Toaster project and I want to ask if there is anything in hardware version? Did somebody made an open-source replica? Yes, would be great to have original but sadly it look like it is getting harder(and pricier if I can say this without ban on forum) to get...

Hmm was thinking that if the guys(or women) who made Video Toaster software freely available, can also ask right persons for schemes of cards or even some "gerber" files(or anything like this)...

It's packed so full of VLSI and custom firmware. It will never happen... Grab a real one for $100.

Also since it's just a genlocked switcher and basic effects generator, is there nothing it can do that getting a regular switcher and genlocking adapter for an Amiga can't do?
