I'm new to the world of paper tape after recently acquiring a rather wonderful type 33 teletype.

This is in working condition and I have all the consumables except seemingly a spindle for the paper tape roll. Any idea what I can use for this?

Nice acquisition...

I wonder if there is a design for a 3D printable spindle somewhere (assuming I am thinking of the correct part)?

Dave

Broomstick, suitably shortened. Just check the inner diameter of your paper roll and use something modestly smaller with a reasonable smooth surface. The spindle just sits there and the paper roll is what moves, so the roll-spindle interface needs to be reasonably low-friction.

BTW, the Greenkeys mail list is the place to be: http://www.rtty.com/greenkeys.htm

Thanks - and thanks for the links

I wonder - it would be a relatively simple part Im guessing.

Thanks - I can give that a try. Also thanks for the mail list link :)

A small section of 50mm PVC pipe would probably do the trick nicely :)
