Pet Prices!

Good result there StowComputers, was that an international sale or UK?

jjpou that's another high priced commodore looks like Anders better get in that basement!:D

Just out of curiosity Anders what's wrong with the 8296d and the CBM 710?

I have come to realise the best pricing comes from offering international postage, and opting to list on .com & .ca. I sold one just like this for £140 2 weeks ago which went to Spain. I think this time I managed to catch the interest of 2 bidders who wanted it really badly. It's just luck of timing, ie who is looking and how bad the desire is.

I have kept one for myself, and may prove to be a good investment.

The 8296 usually appears stone dead when powered on, but once in a while it boots properly. It probably needs a replacement PLA of some sorts. I will probably try an EPROM some day, although the modern GAL based replacements are supposedly better in the long run. Then I need a 8000 series keyboard to attach a DB25 onto unless I can find a genuine keyboard.

The 710 has suffered smoking PSU filter caps, but otherwise used to power on OK. Last time I tried, I got absolutely nothing from it though. I probably should start with diagnosing/fixing the PSU before getting onto the main unit.

Regarding international shipping, I'm astonished how many sellers ignore the international market. Yes, it will be troublesome to fill in shipping documents and the buyer needs to pay higher shipping rates, but the general consensus that all citizens in my own country are trustworthy and all people abroad are crooks doesn't quite hold up in the long run. Sometimes I ask for international shipping, sometimes I just don't care and silently watch e.g. "UK Only" items go for 1/3 of what an identical item with international shipping sold within the same hour went for.

Here's the thing, I can ask anything for, say, my dead lightbulb, put it on ebay for $400 as an ULTRA RARE DEAD LIGHT BULB, however the odds of me selling are quite small and the amount of people that laugh at me and think I'm a complete idiot are quite high.

Right but those sold. The prices are weird, sometimes seemingly high then later too low when a bunch end up there at the same time. Depending on the model though yes a few hundred can be expected.

I thought £365 was quite a lot for a 8096-SK. Was the #1 bidder fake, or just didn't step up as apparently the #2 bidder now is the reseller?

I think someone is looking for a big mark up on this pet! They aren't that valuable are they?

The same Pet with a massive mark up and still not fixed!

That's a bit steep for a 8096 isn't it?

I spotted that too, and was going to mention it here. If he sells that for £999 I'll fall off my chair!

I really don't understand the crazy BIN of some vintage systems, I have been looking at the C128 market for some time and the same seller has one for £249 :

Now this one's been on there for over 2 years for the same price unsold. It's double a good average price, and he probably spent as much on listing fees. What's the point?
