Philips P2000C SASI interface, what are the options?

I am pretty sure you will be OK with an old drive. Most old drives don't use arbitration or re-selection. I am pretty sure the original Atari interfaces only supported the same sub-set as your P2000C.

Did you test the apple drive it on a normal PC with a normal interface?

Did it spin up and come ready, you should hear the arm unlock?

You didn't say which model drive. Many have jumpers to set to disable parity....

Some drives have a jumper to prevent spin up until addresses so you may need to change that.
 
Another thing: what address did you try the drive at? Perhaps SASI has a different convention than SCSI for "default" numbering.
