This is a post from my SGI Octane using SGI Netscape, the
same one I have been working on lately. I am working to make
it as useable as possible within the boundaries of the IRIX
OS 6.5.x. I am currently installing freeware that I have
found, in the background. This is a 64-bit system, pretty
slick for the time.

Some good stuff, not all works but no major show stoppers.

If you can find what remains of the Nekoware repository (it might be archived on irix.cc) there is a ton of precompiled software you could get.
Before Nekochan shutdown there was still a fairly active development pool.

Oh no, what happened to nekochan.net?

Website went offline a month or so ago. The administrator was giving signs he was getting tired of hosting it and wasn't looking to pass the torch.
If you can't find an archive of it, it's gone.

If you're able to find what's left of nekoware, there's a Firefox 3.0.19 build that's serviceable. It runs well enough on my Fuel, though my Fuel has a 900MHz CPU, so.
