Hi to all,
Someone can help me?
I have an excellent Tandy 1400LT computer with original boot disk. The computer boot perfectly and the screen is clear.
Download from internet, Deskmate II and when run it the software load well, but the screen flicker.
I don't know if the software is designed for this machine. In the computer box show the computer running Deskmate. Maybe have a wrong version ?
The computer just flicker with deskmate.
Help please
Also need some games for this computer
Thanks for your help

Junior Ramos -
Deskmate II was designed for the Tandy 1000 series pc's running MS-DOS 3.2. I believe your 1400LT probably came with a NEC V20 chip which is switchable between 4.77-7.16 mHz. Try running at both speeds and see what happens. I have a NEC V20 running at 10 mHz in my 1000SX and have no problem running Deskmat II. What version of DOS are you running? I don't know of any glitch in Deskmate that would cause the flicker. You may want to look a little deeper in you 1400 and check for proper battery operation, etc. Good luck.

From what I've seen in catalog images, DeskMate II normally used a rather garish color scheme, which may not translate well into grayscale; some grayscales can appear rather flickery on old laptop LCD screens. Try setting DeskMate to use a monochrome color scheme (strictly black & white).

Good advice from 'vwestlife'. If you have access to a RGB or CGA monitor, try pluging into either one and see if the problem goes away.

Sorry for delay and thank to all,
Here is my findings:
1. Tandy 1400TL is running in the original 3.2 DOS
2. Was tested in both speed and same problem (flicker)
3. I was connected a TV monitor (no RGB) and no flicker show, but just appear in black & white.
I don,t know if the output monitor is black & white or color.
Any others input?
Thanks for your great support.

DeskMate II Cat No. 25-1051 Ver. 01.00.00 (c) 1986 came with the 1000SX as indicated in the upper lh corner of the 5.25" floppy. Also, the 1000SX came with a CGA monitor and there was never a flicker, at least on my system. I would now suspect that there is a setup/BIOS issue with Junior's Ramos' 1400. I'd be interested in the cat no. of your DeskMate disk for your 3000

Note to Junior: Double check your BIOS and/or your monitor settings.

I'm reading the manual for DeskMate II and the system requirements from the manual are:
Code:
The Tandy 3000 Personal Computer or the Tandy 3000 HL
with either a monochrome monitor (Cat. Nos. 26-5112 or
25-3010) or a color monitor (Cat. Nos. 25-1022, 26-5111, or 25-1021)

There were a lot of different versions of Deskmate, and probably Deskmate II too. I also think Deskmate 2 and deskmate II may be different prdoucts.
Some required the special Tandy graphics (which I don't think were on the 1400) and others ran on standard PC machines of the era.

I just checked. The Deskmate for the 3000 and for the 1000sx are both Deskmate II, but are not the same program. For example, the one for the 1000 understands F12, the one for the 3000 expects Alt-F10.

If you have the original DeskMate II diskette, take a look in the upper right-hand corner and see what the cat number is. Again, my diskette for the 1000SX is 'DeskMate II' (not DeskMate 2) and the cat no. is 25-1051, part of a two diskette set.

Don't have the original disks. I can look up the catalog number though. They are deffinately different products (the one for the 1000sx and for the 3000). Not a lot of difference though.

There are scads of DeskMate programs out there. You'll need need to identify the one that best fits your 1400 and it looks like you are on the right track.
Check this link out:

In case the OP might still be looking for these, I have an 1400FD and the original DeskMate disks (720KB of course) and would be happy to supply images or copies.
