So, I have one of these drives, and was trying to figure out where the drive selects were… well, they are on the bottom of the board, so if I want to make it a normal drive, I have to take the circuit board off….

I’d upload pictures, but they are too big, so need to get to a computer to fix them.

You have to understand that TPI was a joint venture of Tandon and Tandy/Radio Shack. These drives were intended for use in Tandy systems, so all drive selects (1-4) were brought out. The particular drive select was realized by pulling the contacts from the cable. So all drives (with the exception of termination) could be used in any position without re-jumpering. Somewhat like the IBM PC where all drive selects are set to 1 with the cable "twist" determining the drive (and motor) select.

Notice that NDS4 is Pin 34 of the Floppy Connector (NDS{1..4} in PDF), and there are solder pads for the DS{0..3}
Jumpers (or DIP Switches, if the traces are cut) on the PCB.
