A nickel-metal hydride battery with a 12V voltage and 2400mA is used, according to the battery labeling.
Because nickel-metal hydride batteries are still available for purchase, the laptop's battery can be repaired.

1.Disassemble the battery

On the Toshiba T1960CT, the battery has 1.5 hour of use.

By using those batteries, you lost 33% of the original pack's rated capacity. I would have suggested to use 4/5A NiMH cells, which will get you to 2100 mAh. Full A cells (which are harder to find) would get you 2700 mAh. There are also 4/3A NiMH cells that get up around 3800 mAh, but those probably wouldn't fit.

There are higher capacity AA cells, but they get super expensive.

I'm going to do this exact thing too! I've ordered the 5xAA battery holders already.

Pricing rises as capacity grows. money that was wasted.
While not being utilized with a laptop, I can use it with other electronics like a toy, remote control, or shaver by using AA batteries.

Curiously, how did you mill away the top of the pack? Or did you cut it open and it came off?
