The TRS-80 Model 4 in my collection appears to be one of the earlier release. It has the standard black & white screen, two full height 180K single sided floppy disks, and the standard 64K of RAM. Unfortunately, I don’t know how much ROM the comuter has, nor do I don’t remember any commands, or set of commands to obtain that info.
I came across a web site located at
http://www.trs-80.com/wordpress/trs-80-computer-line/model-4/
This site, and more specifically on the TRS-80 Model 4 (non gate array) I came across the specs page where I learned that the Model 4 is capable of running with a hard disk.
Since I’ll be opening the computer to perform other upgrades, I was wondering if the computer will accept an internal hard disc. More importantly, I was wondering if there is some kind of hard disk emulator that is a bit cheaper than the FREhd (please pardon my spelling)
From all I learned about this machine, the more powerful and upgradeable it is.
Also, I am seriously thinking about getting, and installing a compatible Amber screen to replace the black & white one originally installed. Thing here is that I don’t know Anything about working around CRT picture tubes.
I’ll be looking to buy the amber screen and memory ASAP.
As always, Thanks in advance. Your advice is truly appreciated.
