Hello,
I'm restoring an IBM 5160. Find a few picture here: https://forum.vcfed.org/index.php?threads/ibm-5160-restoration.1242913/
I've replaced some caps on the matherboard (https://forum.vcfed.org/index.php?threads/ibm-pc-5150-tantalum-replacement.1242844/) and now it works.
But I've a issue now. I boot this PC a few weeks ago after 1 month of power off state, the HDD does e clicking sound. I've to boot it three times in 5 minutes, then the HDD works.
After a couple of days I boot it and it takes 2 boot to works, same thing after another couple of days.
After 7 days i boot the PC and it works without reboot.
After each boot the HDD is working without problem, so I don't think is something related to the hardware parts (disk and headers).
My HDD is the WD25 Type13 20Mb, the HDD controller is assy 104866 by XEBEC (find it attached).
I've found a similar issue here: https://forum.vcfed.org/index.php?threads/ibm-5160-ibm-wd25-type-13-power-up-failure.77769/
Because it's a "come and go" issue, can it be related to HDD board caps? Any tips?
