What displays, other than the VR299 are compatible with the VAX m7168/69 VCB02 housed in a Microvax 3800? It has a DB15 video connector.

Can one use a VR241 or a newer Alpha-era display? The VCM02 manual (EK-104AA-TM) refers specifically to the VR299 display. I have the cable but I don't have a VR299.

Yes I know about the refresh frequencies and all that and I will acquire the knowledge necessary to determine technically proper candidates that will work.

BUT What I am hoping for is a tip from someone who can advise a substitute that *they already know works* with the VCB02.

I read that the VR260 and VR290 would work but I don't have one of these either.

Hello Bill,

this should all be no problem.
If you have got the original DEC cable with the 3 BNCs and connectors for the keyboard / mice on the other side of the DB15 you can just connect it to any
monitor or even flat screen who does support sync on green. That´s all.

2 Years ago i did test an VCB02 with an 21" IBM monitor (relabelled Sony ?? ), an last generation Eizo 21" and an SUN TFT.
I connected only the 3 BNCs and it worked perfectly...

The Eizo is an FlexScan F931, the SUN an LSA800.
An DEC VRCX1 i did test on an DEC3000 Alpha - and it worked also.
Best regards,

Kai
