Our family spent the last week in Ohio hanging out with family. Made a trip Monday to Dayton to check out Mendelson's, an amazing surplus place that is going out of business. Unfortunately, the part that was apparently the most amazing was their 3rd floor electronics department, and I was told it had been auctioned off several weeks prior. They were putting more electronic odds & ends out when I was there, so I decided to go back on Friday and spent a few more hours digging through lots of stuff that had been put out. Apparently the owner had bought out NCR's old stock at some point, and there were tons of random parts that apparently were used to build or repair NCR cash registers and the like. But, I found a few computer-related odds & ends as well that I picked up. Their sale is currently that you can stuff all you can in a banana box for $20, so not expensive!
Here are two circuit board modules that say "Control Data Corp" and "CDC". From doing a little digging, sounds like perhaps they are modules from a 1960's CDC supercomputer? There were a number of these modules, I just picked up one of each, wish now I had just put them all in my box, didn't think they would be anything that interesting! Looks like similar items are selling $15-20 each on ebay...
And here's a "Lamp Control" board from something? In a sleeve with an NCR tag from 1978 with a listed value of $155. Looks to be nearly as old as the above boards.
Is an NCR 6091 (presumably tape drive?) anything interesting to anyone? There were some tapes (mostly backup) that included these two, which I picked up in case someone might be looking for said data...assuming the tapes are even readable.
And then there was a box of what appeared to be punched tapes labeled "C-500 Test Tape" with part number 603-9001082. Anyone know what a C-500 is or what a test tape might do? They all appeared to be the same, so I threw one in my box of goodies.
If anyone knows anything about any of these items, I would be interested in hearing more. Or if anyone is near Dayton Ohio and wants to try to snag some of the ones I left behind, I can try to point you to where they were when I was there Friday. Wish I was closer, I'd definitely go back and dig some more and probably pick up the rest of those CDC modules!
Thanks,
Wesley
