If you want 57600 or above I think that works with 14.7456 MHz crystal. Won't be able to do the common lower frequencies but if dedicated for SerialDisk won't mater.
Thanks David!
The M8650 works perfectly well with the original 14.418 MHz crystal running at 115200 bps while using it as a console UART at addresses RX=3 and TX=4.
I have tried rewiring the address to RX=40 and TX=41 using the instructions on Doug Jones's website.
It didn't work with SerialDisk so I just tried the simple transmitter test and echo test on page 4-3 of DEC-8E-HMM1A-D-D_PDP-8e_Maintenance_Manual_Volume_1_Processor_Sep73.pdf (modified for addresses 40/41) .
Transmitter test:
0: 7604
6416
6411
5002
5000
Echo Test:
0:6402
6401
5001
6406
6416
6411
5005
5001
Neither of them does what I expect.
I also tried different address selection jumper settings as show at the bottom of:
https://www.pdp-9.net/configure-m8650-kl8e-for-serialdisk
These jumper settings didn't improve it either.
Both tests work fine when jumpered to addresses 3/4.
Where did I go wrong?
Thanks and best regards
