here. The wiki is a bit outdated but should be sufficient. The "late initialization" James mentioned is MODULE_VERY_LATE_INITIALIZATION which will be included by default if you make an XT version ("make xt") with the latest revision of the source code (r566). In earlier versions of the BIOS there was a setting called "Late initialization" and that's what the post at Vogons is referring to. This is a completely different thing.
If you are using the r566-binary provided by James then you will not have MODULE_VERY_LATE_INITIALIZATION included. This is why you need to make the BIOS from source yourself.
