Hello everyone,

I'm looking for an old game, I beleive it was made in basic, called Bizerk. If anyone knows where I can find this game please let me know.

Thanks,

Charles Williams

Sorry for the lack of info.

This game Bizerk was a robot shooting game set in a maze if that is any help.

I'm not sure if I have the name of the game correct.

I think it was called Berzerk!

It's the one with the electrified walls, and if you take too long, that smiley face guy came after you!

I used to play it like crazy on my friend's Atari 2600

It was pretty decent, although I missed hearing those voices that you got from the actual arcade game.

I would love to get it for the vic 20

Good luck finding a copy for the platform you want to use it on!

Yes, that's it :D :D :D

I did a search on the internet for it but came up with nothing. I refuse to give up though.

I would love to get that on the PC !!!

P.S.

I love the screen shots. They bring back some memories.

There was a similar game out for CP/M, but they called it Robot, IIRC. It may have been an MBASIC program. I dunno if the Atari game is a decendant, or the other way round.

Do a search for the PCAE emulator,
which is a DOS emulator of an Atari
2600. And (hopefully if it's still the way
I remember it) you'll need to download
the B.ZIP file (which has all the Atari
2600 games starting with B in).

Let us know how you get on.

Cheers,
CP/M User.

There's this game in section 2A of the Carousel
archive:
http://files.chatnfiles.com/carousel/
called Bizerk, though I'm pretty sure I've
check it & it wasn't like Atari 2600 game nor
any good.

Atari wrote the version for the 2600 & usually
they were the innovators for writing their own
stuff (or so I thought).

Cheers,
CP/M User.

The MBASIC game didn't have graphics, IIRC, so it would not be all that similar (in look & feel) to an Atari 2600 game, but the basic principal is similar, moving your robot around in the maze with electrified walls, avoiding the enemy, etc. Mebbe "inspired" is a better word for it, the old BASIC game may have inspired a flashier, graphics-oriented game to be written, (from scratch, of course).

There was another vaguely similar game once called C-Robots that was programming based.

In effect, you wrote a little C program to make your robot do what you wanted it to do (i.e. right-90, loop until you miss, fire once, end loop, forward 5, right-90, etc.) and then put multiple robots in the arena to battle it out.

Fun stuff!

And here is a copy of ROBOT.BAS for the TRS-80 Model III:

http://www.trs-80.com/trs80-3l.htm

I opened the file and viewed it, (at least the ASCII parts, instructions etc.) and it appears to be the same game I'm thinking of (electrified walls, robots, maze,etc.). You can also download TRS-80 emulators from elsewhere on Ira's website.

Berzerk supposedly was the first game which caused a player's death. It was a middle-aged man who got a heart attack inside the arcade while playing it.

If you like Berzerk, you might want to check out Robotron too.

The game I pointed out IMO has nothing
in common with Berzerk (except for the
game which is Bizerk).

There's quite a few MBASIC programs here:

http://www.mirror.ac.uk/collections/hensa-micros/collections/

when I have some time, I'll try & look it up
in there. What was it called? Robots?

Cheers,

I found It !!!

I found It !!!

I found the Bezerk game I was looking for.

You go to Yahoo clubs and search for a club called Rom_Zone (You'll have to sign up for the club). After you sign up you click on links on the left side of the page. Go down to members Roms. The emulator and game is on that page.

Thanks to all who helped me to find it.
