How come no external 5 1/4 drive?

Extremely true. The vast majority of my 5.25" floppy disks from the late 70s-early 80s still read perfectly with no errors. Meanwhile I've completely given up on buying any late-production 3.5" disks I see at thrift stores since just about any NOS disks I've gotten from the late 90s-early 2ks...

    Sanyo MBC-555 troubleshooting, no boot

Nevermind! I wonder if the drive I was using the make the disks was faulty yet getting good verification from the greaseweazel somehow...I hooked the gw up to the actual drive inside the Sanyo to make a disk instead, and it read perfectly first try on boot. Working perfectly!

    Sanyo MBC-555 troubleshooting, no boot

Hi all, tonight I finally acquired a computer I've been after for a long time, a Sanyo MBC-555-2, for $50 locally. However, I cannot tell if it's actually trying to boot. I am aware you can't just use a normal dos boot disk on these, and have attempted four different MBC-specific disk images...

    ElectroData Clock Pulse Generator Card?

Thanks for that link! Yeah, my search has come up empty handed so far. All the stuff online covers the 205 for the most part, or peripherals. Wonder how many of these cards still exist...

    ElectroData Clock Pulse Generator Card?

Hey all, not sure if this is technically the right forum, mainly because I'm not entirely sure what system this may go to... Found this old ElectroData clock pulse generator card at a garage sale in the absolute middle of nowhere. Part number APPEARS to be 52898, serial number 112, for what...

Wow, didn't realize that. Learned something new today! the Tandy TL with the 8-bit slots but 286 processors are still technically XT though, correct?

How uncommon is a Franklin ACE 500?

I've owned multiple Ace 1000s, passed on several 1000s that were overpriced, I've SEEN 1200s in person, but I honestly didn't even know the 500 existed until right now...if that's any indication of rarity.

GE Workmaster = IBM Portable PC?

286 processor does not guarantee AT architecture. Many 286 upgrade cards existed, and 286-powered XT class systems also existed, see some of the Tandy 286 models, or the IBM PC XT 286.

    Found! Ibm xt and monitor

People who snip the cords off of electronics on the curb are my sworn enemies. Imagine using $15 in gas, going around exerting physical effort in the heat, snipping the $0.01-in-copper cords off of devices that are worth sometimes hundreds of dollars intact...

New to IBM - recommend a video card for 5150

Some of the OEM Zenith Data Systems VGA cards work in 8 and 16 bit mode. I'm actually running one in a Z-150 with no issues.
