CBM PET 710 WITH BASIC PROBLEMS

I'm officially closing this thread, I've listed the Pet for sale on Ebay... there will definitely be someone able to repair it.
I thank all those who helped me and who wasted time for me... I tell you that it wasn't wasted time because I still learned other new notions. A thousand thanks!
 
Guess I won't bother trying to make the CBM2 emulator scream, then.

It's probably just as well. Even if we proved that the CPU hadn't been killed I'm not sure where we would have been able to go next. The fact that the original software got blown away makes it extremely difficult for someone to remotely figure out if the problem is that this unit was somehow different enough from other 710s that it required a different firmware to get beyond a black screen, or somehow, just coincidentally, something *not* the CPU happened to break while the EPROMs were getting reflashed.
