The above response was posted back in 2014 but it was based on something that happened to my PDP-8m back in 2006.
Basically the LoadAddress and LoadExtendedAddress switches stopped working.
All the others (Exam, Deposit, etc) worked fine, just could not load the console address.
Long story...
So this morning I powered on both of my venerable Vaxstation 4000 VLC systems (one VMS, one BSD) and they BOTH failed the exact same way:
?? C?? CRPT - Corrupt bit is set
message repeats endlessly. I can't find that error message in any of the DEC service manuals I have PDFs of. Searching...

You don't find many (really ANY) of these around anymore, especially in this apparent condition.
Consider a gofundme donation to help preserve some computing history. I have no financial interest.

for those with an incredible amount of money burning a hole in their pocket. Probably overpriced. Certainly unique. Not many available today.
Then there is always this 8L...
I have an issue with moving a RSTS/E v9.6 setup from under SIMH to the real hardware equivalent.
My setup is an 11/44 with full 4MB memory, DZ11, DL11, DEUNA, RX211, and an MSCP disk controller. All the devices are 'exactly' the same between SIMH and the real hardware, except SIMH models an...

Very optimistic for an untested box that has lived in a barn for years. Good luck to the seller (a commercial outfit it appears) but someone needs a reality check.
Late in 2015, after retiring from full time work, I dug out my half-finished-never-quite-got-to-work PIC18F4550-based RX02 emulator project from about 10 years ago. It was based on the Dickman RXM code base ported to a USB capable PIC18 device. The intent was to emulate the RX02 device interface...
So, mega success. I was finally able to get my RX02 emulator passing all three DEC RX02/RX211 diagnostics:
(1) ZXRDC0 : RX02 SS PERF EXER (it has been doing this for a while)
(2) ZRXEA0 : RX02 FMTR PROG (just tonight!)
(3) ZRXFB0 : RX02 FUNCTION-LOGIC TEST (just tonight!)
ZXRF the RX02/RX211...
So ... over the past month I was able (finally) to finish and test my version of XXDPDIR (actually xxdpdir.pl plus an XXDP.pm Perl module) that supports access to RX01 and RX02 media images (as well as simple linear block drives like TU58, MSCP, RL02, etc) so I could now build RX01 and RX02...
There are several options for both PDP-11 and PDP-8 that don't use legacy spinning magnetic media.
PDP-11 TU58EM TU-58 emulator. Requires a Windows/Linux PC or equivalent to run the emulator server code (see https://github.com/AK6DN/tu58em) and an extra serial port on the PDP-11 as the hardware...
So, it finally happened on my PDP-8m. Insert key in the power switch, turn it to on, hear a funny mechanical noise, and the power key now turns freely to all positions (left/up/right) without any response from the system. Insert sad face here :(
So I open up the box and find some plastic /...
