AIM 65 restarted after 40 years in the attic - works great!!!

The modern B&W thermal paper used in our cash registers will often fade quickly. Especially if you leave it in the sun near the window. That is not s big deal for most stuff. But you'll have to photocopy anything you want to keep in a binder, etc.

Connected my 40 year old AIM-65 to my 60+ year old Model ASR-33 teletype and they communicate perfectly!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought I could avoid having to use dual cassette tape recorders to use the assembler, thinking I could punch the teletype paper tape instead, but it appears the AIM was never made to do that. So...now I will have to connect my 2, 40 year old cassette recorders to the AIM and dig up some old cassettes!!!! Then I can brush up on 6502 assembly language and try to write and run a program!

You don't require dual cassette recorder/players UNLESS you have a large assembly source file with lots of symbols.

If you are 'playing around' you only require a single cassette recorder/player.

See pages 5-4 and 5-5 of http://cini.classiccmp.org/pdf/Rockwell/r65_ug05.pdf.

If you read the rest of section 5 I think you will find that you CAN use the TTY (and you can also use it in conjunction with the cassette recorder/player). In this respect, the AIM-65 input/output redirection facilities are quite flexible.

Grab the manual - and a large glass of beer/wine/whatever and have a good read and a play...
