C-64 upgrades

On the monitors, I really should go through them. The last one I really tore into, I completely recapped, and it hasn't worked since, so I've been a bit discouraged. That was 2013! Shame on me! So maybe I'll take the fact that folks are really looking for them as encouragement to start digging into them again. I've got about a dozen that are non-working in one way or another that could be fixed and go to good homes. They're just really time-consuming to repair, and we just got a new puppy. Now THAT is a challenging project!

Man! That was almost 5 years ago. It was probably just something stupid I'm sure you'll do fine on the next ones and you know what nothing feels better than fixing something regardless. Rub a little spit on them make them shine. Take some screenshots of pretty cool games on them and they fly off the shelves

The Fresno Commodore User Group has too many Commodore monitors in storage!

You guys should sell them off Robert! Put the funds back into the club. It sounds like lots of folks are wanting them. I've never seen so many requests for monitors lately. The problem with selling monitors, of course, is the cost and risk of shipping.

Im so envious, all the commodore groups around me closed years ago

I hear you there! The Iowa users group COUGAR shut down around 2000. There are 3 of us that started meeting unofficially in 2017 at a friends house, and we try to do it monthly. Meeting is this Sunday. If you're in central Iowa, you're all invited!

Yeah, we don't really want to go through the trouble of packing and shipping them. However, if any of you guys are within my "cruising" area (California/Nevada up to Washington state), I can bring one to you.

Ah, a new/reborn group. Is it still called COUGAR? Or is it called something else? Is it Commodore 8-bit or Commodore 8-bit plus Amiga or just C64? What is the exact date/time of the meeting? What is the location? Who is the contact person (with phone number/e-mail address)? I can start advertising your group in various C= and/or Ami forums.

Thanks Robert. We've been unofficial so far. Let me ask the guys if we want to "go legit", and then I'll probably take you up on that offer. I'm sure we will be Commodore AND Amiga.

No, we won't call it COUGAR. That was the COmmodore Users Group Ames Region. Since we're in Des Moines, we'll have to come up with something else.

The best I could come up with is DMC - Des Moines Commodore.

Not to be confused with DMC -DeLorean Motor Cars!!! ;) Changing it to Des Moines Commodore Club (DMCC) could be interpreted as DeLorean Motor Car Club. You could get Commodore, Amiga, and DeLorean people into your club!!!

Now all you need is a Mr. Fusion reactor to provide 1.2 gigawatts!

Robert, I like DMCC too.

We're meeting tomorrow. We'll talk about it and see.

I guess an Amiga would qualify as a COUGAR at this point... ;)

Well, the guys didn't want to go all official. So yes, there's an "unofficial" Commodore users group in Des Moines Iowa on the last Sunday of the month, but since we're meeting in somebody's home, he didn't want to advertise "HERE'S WHERE MY COLLECTION IS". Understandable. But if anyone is interested and in central Iowa, send me a message here or email me at kevin.removeifyourenotaspammer@puppybreath.org.

...and I've totally hijacked this thread. What were we originally taking about?

Heh, when SCCAN started back in September, 2005, we couldn't exactly advertise its location either, because it was at a member's house.

Oh, should I start advertising your club now with your contact e-mail? (Of course, disguised e-mail to prevent spammers...)

Maybe you could use (stylized in keycaps ) RUN - the Des Moines Commodore Club.

I guess you'd have to worry about trademark infringement from both sides? ;)
