everything appears to be set correctly on my WD IDE 8-bit controller. i know this 256 MB kingston card i got supports 8-bit access mode, and so does the CF-IDE adapter. i made sure before i ordered them.
i installed the CF-IDE adapter and put the CF card on it, right where the 20 MB hard drive was connected to the card... turned it on, nothing! it doesn't have any clue that a drive is present. i verified this with FDISK which says it can't find any fixed disks. just to be sure it wasn't some weird tandy incompatibility, i pulled the whole card out, and put it in one of my 8088's. same thing. the 8088 actually gives me the 1701 drive controller error on boot. everything works when i just plug the original hard drive back into the card.
the CF-IDE adapter IS set for master/single. help, this sucks!
