Commodore Pet Chiclet 2001-8 bs Repair

There's a jaded part of me that wonders if the "BS" in the model name stands for something like "Board Swap". IE, all of these with the Dynamic boards are "refurbs", the distinction being that ones that say "BS" might be "factory refurbs" vs. ones that might have been field repaired by a dealer/distributor. (Mine, having a "REFURBISHED" sticker on it, would be an example of the latter.) There's stories about how Commodore used to fill bulk educational orders by slapping together machines out of whatever pieces they had lying around the factory floor, I could totally see them printing up some some special "BS" stickers to slap on Frankensteined machines they put together out of leftover parts/returns/lemons/etc.

Would there be anyone from the Commodore era who would be able to answer that question?
I know Bill Herd is still about and answering questions about Commodore but the Pet is a little before his time.
Maybe Chuck Peddle ?
