Evolution

At first I was a fish, and then a frog,
Until one day, I hopped up on a log,

And, looking 'round over all the land,
Thought how nice it'd be to be a man.

So, stage by stage, I gradually progressed,
Till evolution was a complete success.

I was an ape, one missing link away
From the goal I'd set in my pond that day.

All I needed was to walk more erectly,
And a bigger brain, to think correctly.

But now that I've made it, I don't understand
Why I ever wanted to be a man.

So don't think it strange that I sometimes wish
I could just go back to being a fish!

Terry done it again, poetry in motion!
It flows so nicely, magnificent execution!

I also sometimes wish I could change into something else,
to live somewhere free of all worries, but without the smell!
I mean the smell of fish!

So I settled for being a seabird, to fly freely over the winds,
beyond the reach of anybody, to go with life as it takes me,
looking down searching for Terry! Look out Terry, yum yum!
