• Please review our updated Terms and Rules here
  • From now on we will require that a prefix is set for any items in the sales area. We have created regions and locations for this. We also require that you select a delivery option before posting your listing. This will hopefully help us streamline the things that get listed for sales here and help local people better advertise their items, especially for local only sales. New sales rules are also coming, so stay tuned.

For Sale: spotted on Craigslist (continuous sightings)

heh, that guy's dreaming! Might be 20 years or more till P4 stuff is worth anything besides scrap. If he sells that lot I'm selling the store and retiring! :p

BTW an interesting feature I noticed after Peter pointed out Yahoo's CL search technique, but yahoo seems to have "Get the latest updates on" feature that's really interesting. Looks like it can send out a daily, weekly, etc email to you if that search result changes. Basically email alerts for your craigslist items. Pretty neat possible game changer.

If it makes ya feel any better, statistically it's always the opposite of the states, border, or pond for all of us. I would think though (not sure what distance it is) that in the NE states you'd have more population in a closer radius for more computers. Although perhaps the speed of light life style means they were all curbed a long time ago.

It's the irony that a $50 system that's highly desirable and worth saving is always $80 shipping or hundreds in gas away.

Should we split general discussion off to a Craigslist general chatter topic?
1: Look for other active VCF members that live in area where you want to buy something. They can pick it up and ship. Especially when you pay gas & a little extra.
2: Make a really good offer to people. Follow up with them a couple of times. Connect with them on a personal level (e.g. your stories / memories of a machine). Make it really easy for them by paying for packaging / shipping and so on (UPS Store where the employees will package). Phone them.
3: Stuff around NYC: rent a car for the day and combine multiple hauls. That way you get more bang for your buck / time. CT / NJ / upstate NY (sometimes PA / MA / RI) have better stuff than the tristate area most of the time.
Good luck!

There was a talk at some time from a few members debating if a network of collectors who travel might be of use or anyone doing a vacation could offer to move equipment. I'm not sure if it went anywhere or it may have just been a one time offer from a member who was doing an extended vacation around the states.

We do see some of that, with members piping up that they could get it for someone if interested, or I suppose one could volunteer to be on a list. Steven (forgetting last name/site) I think has a list also just on his site for collectors in certain regions since he receives many offers .. actually this site also gets a lot of folks asking or offering systems for sale on the main page under the specific system.

The only catch I'd see is CL sellers often want it gone quick, or quickest person to get there. But I could be misunderstanding the point. You're wanting collectors to talk to each other or to pitch in for a rentacar weekend getaway? Or just a selection of folks in an area who collect and would be willing to ship if the seller isn't (like the Georgia stuff).

I have been on it since 2011 and no response yet. :(

@Functional:
It all depends. When you give me a list of stuff you are looking for I can give it a shot but you should be the principal in contacting people. :)

Aye, they're a hardy lot, the IBM clan. They live outdoors, in the elements, sporting naught but a polyethylene tarp through all the seasons. :wow:

Maybe the guy got carried away at one of those online govdeals auctions...
