Hello to the whole group,
I recovered a s36 5364 and a 5160.
The 51 only had two shorted capacitors and I solved it easily.
On the 53 I replaced 17 failed capacitors and now the main power supply works properly.
The problem is on the VRM, no voltage comes out, so I don't have 1.7V. I have 300v dc at the input.
If I turn on the machine the disks spin, the floppy LED stays always on and the controller board heats up so something voltage comes on.
I tried to connect s36 to 5160 but I have no knowledge of the machine.
I booted dos 3.3 from hd on the 5160 and expected it to somehow connect to s36 or give an error message.

Is there a procedure for connecting the two machines?
Has anyone had a problem with the VRM and solved it?

Thank you

System/36 is gonna need a Twinax terminal. There are some midrange dedicated discords out there where you might find some realtime help.
At a minimum you'll need a twinax terminal on ID 0 connected to port 0 on the back of the machine. Does the 5160 have a 5250 emulation card installed in it by chance?

I don't have the terminals, the previous owner threw them away.
I have the card in the 5160 and the connection cable. Minimum operating configuration as per manual.
The main problem is the fault on the VRM and I can't find the diagrams to fix it.
I have correct output voltages only on the main power supply that I repaired, on the VRM the outputs are all 0.
Without a diagram I don't know what to do

Connect the two machines with the cable and power both on. Look on the 5160 disks for a S36.bat file or for a S36 directory. If the hard disk on the 5364 is working and has SSP installed, it should IPL.
