Hello all,

So over the last few weeks, I have been talking with someone which has
two Honeywell DPS 6s and two NCR servers/computers
I think they are the DPS 6 plus model.
Would someone have some more information on these systems?
I can find information on the larger DPS 6 model but not the plus.
I've only been able to find one image (last one), a few old adverts in computer books and one listing:
https://www.recycledgoods.com/bull-dps-6-plus-mainframe-computer/

He said that he originally brought one of the DPS6s for $74,000 (AUD)

Some photos taken by him are attached

Hi,

I have a ton of manuals and schematics for what most likely is a Honeywell Bull DPS 6 system and also 11 diskpacks with 4 12-inch (probably) platters branded Honeywell Bull M4130.

Hi! I have a Bull DPS6 Plus. I am in search of any information on the DPS6 (Plus) at all.

I would be very appreciative to be in touch.

Thanks!

Hi Anders, I am very interested in what you have as manuals and schematics! Do you have a list? Or a photo of them? There is some Bull documentation on Bitsavers but not a lot…

DPS6 documentation is under Honeywell
I would really be interested in what Hardware documentation you have. I had been told they never released schematics

>>> I had been told they never released schematics

This is correct.

Unlike Digital, Honeywell never released schematics etc. to field services departments etc. The expectation was that a faulty card would be replaced on the customer's site by field services and the card returned to somewhere else (centrally) to repair.

As a result, very few (if any) schematics survive.

I was a little bit too late when I contacted Honeywell BULL in the States (this was a good few years ago now of course). They had recently downsized their offices and all of the DPS 6 schematics, microcode sources and manuals ended up in the skip 😭.

The machines in "hw11.jpg" looks like a pair of NCR 3400 series machines. Pretty much a Cadillac of the late 486/Pentium era. And Microchannel to boot.
