You could try a drive overlay like Ontrack Disk Manager, but even that probably won't work with a drive larger than 528Mb.

well its ok running off the hard drive now os2 took care of it. :)
now just to find a numeric keypad , another memstick (can it use regular ps2 memory?) And a battery and ill be set.

...another memstick (can it use regular ps2 memory?)...

The L40SX can take a modified, semi-available set of two SIMMs to reach 18Mb total (16Mb Extended, 2Mb EMS with the special driver on the Starter Diskette). Thank Peter Wendt for finding the modules that worked. Here is the link: http://www.gilanet.com/ohlandl/8543/8543.html#ramupgrade (the link Louis has for Peter´s page is wrong, it should be http://www.mcamafia.de/mcapage0/memory01.htm).

I do see a familiar name on Louis´s page...

The completed modification should look like http://www.gilanet.com/David/L40SX/L40SX16M.jpg (my L40SX)...
