Is this glitch the one we've been waiting for? It's not happening 'till 2038 so there's no need to lose any sleep over it yet.

But has it? It would be very surprising if more than a tiny bit of code has been written the last 15 years or more which does _not_ use time_t et co. I know that not one such line has been written since 1990 in my company at least. And we write a lot of code.

IIRC there was substantial discussion of unix times and 2038 in 1999 during the pre-Y2K frenzy.This has been discussed since the early 2000s. Hardly late breaking news.
